    "fullName": "Fleurante Quetant",
    "bio": "Fleurante Quetant was born in Morisseau, Haiti on March 16, 1926. She was the first daughter of Theol Quettant and his wife Murenne Maingrette. The family moved to Lazile, Haiti where she was raised at Ka Bi family farmland among many siblings.\r\n\r\nIn her many trips to Port au Prince, she met a young man named Arnold Ketan, also from Lazile and the two got married in 1953. The couple established themselves in Carrefour, Haiti where Fleurante gave birth to two daughters. Family and friends remember very well that open house during weekends to enjoy Riviere Froide.\r\n\r\nIn 1970, Fleurante moved to New York to create better opportunities for her family, who joined her in 1972. After the passing of her husband in 1973, \u201cShe put on her iron pants\u201d as she used to say. Fleurante continued to provide for the education of her two daughters, while helping other family members, and keeping an open house to welcome friends and whoever needed a place to sleep and a warm meal.\r\n\r\nBecause of her constant smile in the face of hardship and her sense of humanity, she was considered a very rich woman. After retirement, Fleurante spent time supporting the association of Lazilois and took the opportunity to travel the world. Fleurante was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, and best friend.",
