    "bio": "Sam G Wood Jr of Homestead, FL passed on September 28th, 2021 in Buford, GA at the age of 92.\r\n\r\nSam was born February 25, 1929, to Sam G Wood Sr and Mildred Underwood of Homestead, FL and was part of one of the original old Homestead Families. His father Sam G Wood Sr and grandfather Sam W Wood both worked for Henry Flagler\u2019s Railroad built from the FL mainland to Key West. In 1946, he enlisted in the Army and served in Japan as part of the occupation. In 1949 he returned to Homestead and opened the Royal Palm Barber Shop on Krome Ave and was the town barber for over 45 years. He gave many a first haircut and knew almost everyone in our town; he was always willing to listen and offer help where needed. In 1955 he married Glennwyn \u201cTops\u201d McMillian.\r\n\r\nSam loved his community, family, and friends. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Civitan\u2019s, Elks Club and the First United Methodist Church, where he served as the Chairman of the Board of the Methodist Day School for over 40 years.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his 3 daughters \u2013 Gwyn Grafe, Sandra Wood, and Shirley Rainey; 3 grandchildren \u2013 Renee Ritchey, Michael Hesse, and Laura Stevens; and Great Grandchildren \u2013 Sue Helen Ritchey, Audrey Stevens, and Grant Stevens; his cousin and lifelong fishing buddy \u2013 Glenn Schroeder and his nephew Johnny Adams.",
