White Shibari: a non-sexual approach to sacred experiences, calmness and feeling safe Since I started conducting Shibari workshops, many attendees asked me to tie them so they can experience what it is like. At the beginning I refused, but because of the demand I thought there could be a way. As most of these people are strangers to me, I set limits: no sexuality is to be involved in the process and intimacy needs also to be limited to the level that is only needed for tying and meditation techniques. For the first, it could sound a bit boring or uninteresting with such limits, but here is the catch: a new way to transmit unconditional peace was born and those who are tied with this technique can experience some kind of sacred calmness and safety. Can we use Shibari as a tool for healing, meditation or maybe even to get into a state of blissful enlightenment? The side-sessions after the workshops already proved the first two and this is the reason I call it now "White Shibari technique" or "White Shibari practice" - similarly as in tantra, there are white-pink-red-black colors so I found it a kind of matching reference. This is somewhere around white and pink tantra if you are familiar with the terminology: non-sexual, sacredness focused. The most important in the technique is being present and affectionate. Strong focus of well-being for the model is key. Objectively speaking, this is a floor based setup with no more than 3 ropes (length up to 8 meters each), including dynamic movements and position changes. Past sessions were between 20-45 minutes, depending on how the process went and personal conditions. In this free flow dynamic session, the movement and ties are spontaneous leading to a fully restrained state. The rigger moves the model slowly and affectionately, sometimes stopping in stable and convenient positions, until there is a sign of reaching a state where at least one of the sides feel the need to unbound the ties. Of course there is much more that could be written about communication, preparation and aftercare. If you take on this journey, make sure to go through all necessary steps for fully enjoyable and safe practices. I am glad to transmit something that heals and helps manifesting trust, stability and the feeling of safety. It makes me happy to know at least one of the sessions created a positive experience that lasts for a whole life for someone. Jul 24, 2023 ~ by six
