The Kinky Way: Can Enlightenment Be Found in BDSM? As my retreat draws to a close, I am eager to share some reflections. We began with several days completely disconnected from the digital world, immersing ourselves in a series of transformative activities. Our days were rich with meditation, contemplation, therapy and trance breathing exercises, complemented by "secret" Enlightenment practices. How does this relate to BDSM? I've always embraced unconventional approaches throughout my life, even from childhood, and these have significantly shaped my current standing. During our practices, we achieve altered states (without the use of drugs), and in these moments, reality sharpens. If you've experienced this before, you may recognize the "return problem". You relish a lighter existence, free from troubles, where everything is harmonious and unified in Oneness. Then, after some time, you feel the weight of your physical form; emotions intensify, and cognitive processes reboot. How do I handle this? It might sound tricky, but I don't. I accept that is how it is - it is just not realistic to always stay in a non-material state for a whole life. Quite some people tried it and many died. Perhaps, there are smarter solutions... There might be a way to live an enlightened kinky life. It sounds wild, but we'll see if this works out. I am not here to share the practices or know-hows, but to reflect on the connection between Enlightenment and BDSM itself. Can Shibari, spanking, breath or other plays lead to it? Maybe. Honstely, I never experienced Enlightenment during any BDSM sessions, but got to some truly sacred spaces thanks to White Shibari and other "secret" practices. I know it is not too far and well, some of the most powerful techniques are rooted in the yoga of opposites (shall we consider BDSM and Enlightenment opposites). The kinky way I live my life where it led me, tells me, there is a way. Date: 2024 July 25. Note on 2024 Aug 06., This could be also explained from the perspective of "yoga of opposites" such as sacred Ds cycles or any other plays that are focused on opposite forces/energies.
